Kermie, the Green Xterra

August 12, 2011

I had a Jeep Liberty named Lucy for 7.5 years. In June, I was hit by an SUV and she was totaled. I loved that Jeep. There really isn’t a replacement for a Jeep, especially since the new Liberty body is horrible ugly! The next best thing…my new green Xterra. It has to be eccentric, different…loud. I’m an artist- it’s my nature. So…meet Kermie:)

Emily & Daniel: Louisville Wedding

August 10, 2011

Emily and Daniel were one of those couples you just can’t think of anything bad to ever say about. They are best friends; their love makes a person smile and know that love really can last. They were married in June at Yew Dell Gardens. Emily had Jacki and Jaimeson help plan and coordinate her beautiful wedding. Every detail was completely “them” from the pies from Ramsey’s (rather than cakes) to every guest table themed with something unique shared by the couple. They ended the evening with hours of dancing! I’ve never seen guests enjoy themselves so much at a reception:) Thanks for making me apart of your family for the day!

It’s a touching note of wish and wisdom that tears me up. How simple and precious this wedding wish is.

Old Love is the Sweetest Love

July 29, 2011

We tend to get rid of things when they are old. We’ll consider them not as valuable when they lose their novelty and sheen. But some things get better with age: cheese, wine, love. When love stands the test of time, of hardships it gets stronger. It just looks sweeter. When you’re brave and strong enough to make a commitment and stick to it- that’s endurance.

Caroline & Michael: Louisville Engagement Photography

July 20, 2011

Caroline and Michael are from southern Indiana. They drove to Lexington on a hot early summer afternoon. They were such sports as we waded through tall grass and climbed horse fences. I’m a little behind on blogging, of course, so you’ll be seeing them recess down the aisle in only a couple short weeks. What a fun afternoon with a sweet couple.

Our relationship starting during our junior year of high school in 2003. We hung out with the same group of friends and eventually started talking to each other a lot, spending hours on chatting online when we weren’t together. Michael became interested in me but I didn’t feel the same way so we remained friends for a few more months. Eventually, though, his charms won me over and I started to develop some pretty strong feelings for him as well! We have been inseparable and in love since.

My best friend, her fiance, Michael and I planned a weekend trip to Chicago last September. Michael had planned for he and I to go out to dinner together and to meet up with my friend and her fiance later. The four of us ended up meeting at a marina, boarding a sailboat, and taking a three hour boat ride on Lake Michigan. During the summer, fireworks go off over Navy Pier at 1030; Michael had timed it perfectly for the two of us to climb to the front of the sail boat just before the fireworks went off. It was there that he proposed, I said yes, and the sky was lit up! A very memorable night to say the least!

Annie-Beth & Joe: Cincinnati, Oh, Newport, Ky Wedding Photography

July 18, 2011

Annie-Beth is eccentric at heart. Her public union to Joe could only be laced with eccentricity. Blues and grays were woven throughout her May wedding day. From her high heeled blues to the blue hydrangeas and the blue water of the aquarium. The day was overcast and threatened rain. To everyone’s jolly they were only bluffing! Those clouds were just enough to keep the sun from beating down and heating up the park. Alt park in Cincinnati was in full bloom. Annie-Beth and Joe were married under the ivy woven trellis in the Garden of Old Roses.

I’ve enjoyed all receptions but this one was the most unique! The Newport Aquarium was opened just for their guests to enjoy all the animals. Simon the penguin came out as an extra special treat for anyone to pet. The banquet room was aglow in purple and blue. The Cincinnati skyline shown brightly through the floor to ceiling windows. Annie-Beth and Joe’s families were so warm and welcoming. The room was full of friends and relatives form London, KY and Lexington. It was a most beautiful day. Thanks for sharing it with me:)

Dining With the Fishes

June 9, 2011

Wouldn’t you like to be invited to a party here?! This is the banquet room at the Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY. It’s across the Ohio River from Cincinnati and has a beautiful Queen City skyline to view through floor to ceiling windows. There’s a great patio area to catch a breath of fresh air if the weather’s nice and the aquarium is open just for guests! Who wouldn’t want to use this venue?

Emily & Brandon: Lexington, Kentucky Engagement Photography

June 8, 2011

Emily and Brandon are one of those couples that are best friends. They are two of the nicest, easy going people I’ve met. Emily’s cute southern accent exudes southern charm;) I love it. I had the most pleasant evening shooting with them. I can’t wait for their “green” wedding at the Carrick House in July.

Here’s Emily’s story on how they met and how Brandon proposed:

Brandon and I meet in January 2006.  We were hired at a law firm on the same day as Runners for the firm.  I was a senior at Georgetown and Brandon was a senior at UK.  As soon as Brandon and I began working together, I knew I was going to marry him.   After the law firm closed each day, we would have races around the law firm picking up the shredding for the day.  Brandon would go one way around the office and I would go the opposite way.  Each day I beat him, even though he will never admit that.  I thought if we have this much fun picking up shreddings each day, then I want to spend more time with him.

In May 2006, my best friend was getting married.   For her bachelorette party, we spent a weekend in Hilton Head.  As my friends and I were walking on the beach one day we were each talking about who we were going to marry.  I told my friends that I was going to marry Brandon Green.  At the time, it was very far-fetched.  Brandon and I weren’t even dating and I wasn’t sure at that time if Brandon was even interested, yet in my mind we were meant to be together forever.  My friends thought I was crazy.

In August 2006, right before I started my first year of teaching, he asked me out on a date.  He treated me to a delicious dinner, was a complete gentleman the entire night and I knew he was the man I was going to marry. After a few more dates we made our relationship official.

In July 2010, my mother sent Brandon and I to Hilton Head (for what I thought was a celebration for me finishing my Master’s Degree).

As soon as Brandon and I got to Hilton Head, we headed to the beach to watch the sunset.   As we were walking, on the very same beach where I had pronounced I would marry him (when I barely knew him) he pulled me away from the ocean, got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

On July 2nd, 2011 we will be getting married! 🙂
